Can I change my camp session after applying? Session changes can be made until April 1, 2023 and – thereafter – only as spots are available.

Do you require auditions? Are scholarships available? Auditions are not required to attend camp, and acting, singing, and/or dance experience is not necessary to attend our camps. Currenty, financial aid and scholarships are not available. We simply have no way to process the numerous aid and scholarship requests that we receive each year. We direct students to their local arts organizations and civic groups for support. Starting in Summer 2024, we will be partnering with Activity Hero, which does provide need-based scholarships for campers that enroll through their website.

I don't live in the Northern NJ, NYC, or lower NY state area. Can I still attend one of your camps? We are a summer day camp program, and as such, are not equipped to offer overnight/long term accomodations for campers. In past years, campers have attended from out of our service area, but in doing so are responsible for securing accomodations at a local hotel on their own.

How do I apply? The application link is listed below. Remember: We cannot “hold” or “reserve a space” for a camper without a completed enrollment form and payment (or established payment arrangement). We will not accept your payment if there is not a guarantee of enrollment at your selected camp, so there’s no need to worry about us returning your deposit if we don’t have an open spot.

What is the camper to staff ratio? Our camper to staff raito is 1 staff member for every 10 campers (ages 5-16)., per NJ Youth Camp standards and protocols.

What type of child succeeds at your camp? we believe that every child can succeed and find fulfillment in their own unique way. Our camp is designed for children aged 5-16 who have an interest in various aspects of theater and film, whether it be on stage, off stage, on camera, or behind the camera. We welcome children who enjoy singing, dancing, acting, and playing make-believe, as well as those who possess analytical and tactical thinking skills. Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment where each camper's individual needs and ways of interacting and learning are attended to, ensuring they have an enjoyable experience. We have had campers of different temperaments, ranging from shy and withdrawn to outgoing and life-of-the-party. Regardless of their personality traits, we are dedicated to helping each camper discover fun and enjoyment during their time at camp. We understand that every child is unique, and our team is committed to nurturing their talents and providing a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. Whether a child is artistically inclined or analytical in their approach, our camp offers a range of activities and opportunities for them to explore their interests. Through hands-on experiences, collaborative projects, and guidance from experienced instructors, we aim to foster creativity, teamwork, and personal growth. Ultimately, the type of child who succeeds at our camp is one who is open to learning, willing to engage in the creative process, and eager to embrace new experiences. We celebrate diversity and strive to create an environment where every child feels valued, inspired, and empowered to shine in their own way.

Do you interview campers? Do you take anyone, or are you more selective? We do not interview campers prior to enrollment. One a camper has completed their enrollment form and submitted payment, they are able to attend camp. A few important considerations: Because we are located in an historic building dating back to 1912 that we lease and do not own, we do not have an elevator and are unable to install one, and our main theatre is located on the second floor of the building up two flights of stairs. We are also not equipped to work with the special care and attention required for campers that have severe emotional or cognitive disabilities. If a camper is shown to be destructive or disrepsectful or inapproriate, our staff reserves the right to contact the parents to arrange a meeting withthe camper and parents and also reserve the right to dismiss the camper form further participation in the camp program without a refund.

How many kids attend each year? How many leave before camp ends? What are some of the reasons for early departures? Our camp sessions are capped at 25 campers per session, and at most we run no more than two sessions at any one time. During a normal summer, we offer anywhere from 4-6 camp programs. On average, approximately 100 campers come through our doors each summer. We have had very few campers leave before camp ends. On the rare occassin this does occur the following have been the most common reasons: - Illness - Family Emergency - Behavioral Problems

What are your procedures and rules for keeping campers and staff safe from COVID-19 and other illnesses? Since the government has ended the COVID-19 Pandemic National Emergency, we have modified our procedures and rules. We do not require campers to be vaccinated prior to arrival at our camps. Mask are not required for campers and staff, but campers and staff are more than welcome to wear one if they so choose. Our facilities are equipped with air pirufication systems and multiple hand sanitizing stations throughout.
